Pritish Nandy 73 years old, a name synonymous with bold filmmaking and fearless storytelling, passed away, leaving behind an indelible legacy in the Indian entertainment industry. Pritish Nandy, who wrote and produced films, died on Wednesday. He was 73 years old. His son, filmmaker Kushan Nandy, told SCREEN that his father had died.

There was a sad note from actor Anupam Kher about Pritish: “Deeply deeply saddened and shocked to know about the death of one of my dearest and closest friends #PritishNandy!” Wonderful poet, writer, director, and editor/journalist who is brave and one of a kind. In my first few weeks in Mumbai, he was my support system and a great source of strength. But there was a time when we couldn’t live without each other! He shocked me by putting me on the cover of Filmfare and, more importantly, #TheIllustratedWeelky. I will never forget that. He really lived up to the phrase “yaaron ka yaar!” I’ll miss you and the times we spent together, friend. Take it easy. “#HeartBroken.”
