Who was jayachandran singer?
He has won four Tamil Nadu State Awards, the JC Daniel Award from the Government of Kerala, and the Kalaimamani Award from the Government of Tamil Nadu. He has also won the prestigious National Film Award for Best Playback Singer. There is a son named Dinanathan who has also made a name for himself in the music business and a wife named Lalitha who survives him. As of March 3, 1944, Jayachandran was born in Ernakulam. He was the third child of Ravivarma Kochanian Thamburan of Tripunithura Kovilakam and Subhadrakunjamma of the Paliyam Palace in Chendamangalam. After that, he moved his family to the Paliyam house in Irinjalakuda. He played traditional percussion instruments as a child.
He started with the chenda and then moved on to the mridangam. His father, who loved music and singing, made Jayachandran fall in love with it. He sang a lot at school and in a nearby Christian church. He went to Paliyam School in Chendamangalam, Aluva St. Mary’s High School, and Irinjalakuda National High School for school. At the first State School Youth Festival in 1958, he won first place in mridangam and second place in light music. However, Yesudas won first place in both light and classical music.

He’s Career:
Soon after getting his Zoology degree from Christ College, Irinjalakuda, Jayachandran worked for a short time at a private company in Madras. But things changed for him when Shobhana Parameswaran Nair and A. Vincent, two film producers, heard him sing at an event in Chennai and asked him to perform in Malayalam films. He recorded his first song, “Oru Mullappoomalayumaayi,” in 1965 for the movie Kunhalimarikkar. The song was written by P. Bhaskaran and the music was by Chidambaranath.
Even though the movie didn’t come out until later, music director G Devarajan liked the song so much that he gave him another chance in the movie Kalithozhan. In that place, Jayachandran’s song “Manjalayil Mungi Thorthi” became a huge hit and was his big debut. From then on, he didn’t look back. He soon quit his job to make music his full-time job.
And just when it looked like Jayachandran was going away for good, he amazed everyone when he came back to playback singing with the song “Prayam Nammil” in the movie Niram in 1999, after a break of more than ten years. After that, he kept enchanting people with his soulful voice for another twenty years, making the music business even more beautiful. For example, he worked closely with famous music composers like Ilayaraja and AR Rahman in Tamil cinema, making a name for himself in that industry.
There are many songs that people will always remember that Jayachandran sang. Some of them are Manjalayil Mungi Thorthi, Neelagiriyude Sakhikale, Thiruvabharanam Charthi Vidarnnu, Ramsanile Chandrikayo, Karimukil Kaattile, Kevala marthya Bhasha, Prayam Nammil Moham Nalki, Kallayikadavathe, Enthe Innum Vanneela, and Araraarum Kanaathe.
