Interstellar Re-Release: Christopher Nolan Epic Film Returns To Indian Cinemas On 7 February

The Interstellar Re-Release is generating significant buzz, with advance bookings now open 20 days prior to the official release date. After being delayed for a few months, Christopher Nolan’s 2014 hit science fiction epic Interstellar will finally be shown again in Indian theatres, this time in IMAX format. The movie was shown again in US theatres on December 6, 2018, to celebrate its 10th anniversary. However, it didn’t get enough IMAX screens because Sukumar’s hit Telugu action thriller Pushpa 2: The Rule was so popular.

The official X handle for Warner Bros. India shared the re-release poster for Interstellar on Friday. The caption read, “The stars are aligning again!” On February 7, Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar will be shown again in Indian theatres and in IMAX. Remember the trip that went beyond space and time!” That’s not all—hashtags for Interstellar, Christopher Nolan, 10th Anniversary, Anne Hathaway, and Matthew McConaughey were also stuck on there.

When it came out again in the US last month, Interstellar became the ninth most successful IMAX movie of all time, just behind Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It made $4.5 million on 166 screens in the US and Canada, which made theatres rush to add more, and people paid up to $300 to see it again. An amazing $70,000 per theatre was made on those 10 movie screens alone, making them one of the best of the year.

“I was just so gratified by the response,” Christopher Nolan told the Associated Press about how well Interstellar did when it came out again after 10 years. There’s nothing better than hearing back from people about your work. That being said, 10 years later, to have new audiences see it the way we had originally planned—on the big IMAX screens and especially on those IMAX film prints? “Seeing that it still has a life is really satisfying.”

It’s about a group of astronauts who travel through a wormhole near Saturn in search of a new place for people to live.
