The highly anticipated Ghosts of Tsushima anime series has been officially announced by Crunchyroll, bringing the epic tale of Jin Sakai to life in a new format. Crunchyroll announced a new anime series based on Sucker Punch Productions’ popular video game “Ghost of Tsushima” and its “Legends” cooperative multiplayer mode. This is a project that brings together several Sony businesses.
When And Where Ghosts of Tsushima Anime Series To Watch?
The first episode of the show will only be available on Crunchyroll in 2027. When Sony held its 2025 CES press conference in Las Vegas, the news was shared.
Aniplex, the studio owned by Sony that makes anime like “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba,” “Solo Levelling,” and “Sword Art Online,” will work with Sony to make the “Ghost of Tsushima” anime. Takanobu Mizuno will direct the adaptation, with Gen Urobuchi (“Nitro Plus”) writing the script and Kamikaze Douga animating it. Crunchyroll says the team will bring the traditional samurai style of “Ghost of Tsushima: Legends” to life “with cinematic storytelling and striking visuals.” Sony Music is going to be the show’s strategic music and soundtrack partner. More information, like the creative team and cast, has not been released yet.
The “Ghost of Tsushima” game, developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment-owned Sucker Punch Productions, is an open-world action-adventure title set in feudal Japan. Since its debut in 2020, the game has sold more than 13 million copies globally across console and PC. Its “Legends” cooperative multiplayer experience is inspired by Japanese folktales and mythology. Last fall, Sucker Punch announced a sequel to “Ghost of Tsushima,” titled “Ghost of Yōtei,” which is slated to debut in 2025 and follows a new protagonist, Atsu, with a whole new storyline.
