Before vanity vans were invented, it was a pain for actors to have to go back to their hotels during outdoor shoots to use the bathroom and change clothes. After many years, Poonam Dhillon had the idea of turning a bus into a utility van with air fans to make people more comfortable. She got the idea for the same thing while filming a movie abroad. Those vans are called trailer vans or make-up vans.
Vanity cars are without a doubt one of the most important things that shoots need these days. You may not know this, but actress Poonam Dhillon brought them to Bollywood. That is true! Before the finding, it was annoying for actors to have to go back to their hotels during outdoor shoots to use the bathroom and change their clothes. The male actors changed in cars, but the female players had to walk around to go to the toilet. After many years, Poonam thought of turning a bus into a utility van with air conditioners so that everyone could be comfortable during the shot. It was helpful that there were small make-up rooms and bathrooms.
She got the idea for the same thing while filming a movie abroad. Those vans are called trailer vans or make-up vans. That’s when she chose the word “vanity.” At first, the people who made these vanity cars thought they were just a waste of money. When more makers used the vanity van later, everyone knew how important it was. A lot of famous people today have their own luxury vans that cost crores. Poonam wrote about how she felt about it in an Instagram post that included some old photos of herself with the vanity car.

She wrote alongside, “I didnt realise I was making Film History when i launched my first mobile makeup van “VANITY “. Today Vanity has become generic word to describe a makeup van . Most Artists thank me for introducing the concept to the Film Industry !! Earlier had tough time shooting on location- no toilets, no place for meals or changing clothes, sitting in heat & dust #makeup #indianfilmindustry #actors #comfort .”
