With The Lion King (2019) being a huge hit in India, there is a lot of excitement surrounding the highly anticipated release of Mufasa: The Lion King tomorrow, December 20. Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan Khan provided the voices of the main characters in the Hindi version, which contributed to the previous installment’s success in addition to its subject matter and visual grandeur. Disney has gone one step further and cast AbRam Khan, SRK’s youngest son, as a voice actor for Mufasa: The Lion King.

As it happens, AbRam Khan has performed admirably in the role of the youthful Mufasa. The realism and entertainment value were increased by having the young son voice a character whose adult voice is provided by AbRam’s father, Shah Rukh.
In the meantime, it has been revealed that Shah Rukh Khan has made a reference to a pivotal scene in his iconic 2004 film Main Hoon Na. Curiously, the dialogue in the English version is a little different, but author Mayur Puri has deftly altered it to include the Main Hoon Na tribute.

The voices of Sanjay Mishra and Shreyas Talpade, who play Timon and Pumbaa, respectively, are another highlight of the movie. Their voices and amusing one-liners bring the house down. Makarand Deshpande, meanwhile, provides the voice of the beloved Rafiki. In a way, the exchange between Mufasa and Rafiki reminded me of Shah Rukh Khan and Makarand’s work together in Swades (2004). Just two days ago, Swades celebrated his twentieth birthday.

Asrani provided the voice of Zasu in The Lion King; Rajesh Kava took his place in Mufasa: The Lion King. Uday Sabnis as Obasi, Amritesh Pandey as young Taka, Neha Gargava as Nala, Vikrant Chaturvedi as Kiros, Manini De as Eshe, Meiyang Chang as Taka, Raaya Gill Tewary as Kiara, and Asif Ali Beg as Chigaru are the other voice actors.
