The newest episode of WWE Smackdown was shown live in India on January 25. The weekly wrestling event took place at the Moody Centre on the University of Texas campus in Austin.

The SmackDown show was filled with excitement, having seven matches scheduled. The show started with a short introduction from Cody Rhodes, known as the American Nightmare, followed by a men’s tag-team match for the crowd.

In the women’s match, Bianca Belair teamed up with Naomi and Rhea Ripley to compete against Candice LeRae, Liv Morgan, and Nia Jax. LA Knight and Damian Priest had their own individual fights.

In contrast, the main event saw Jimmy Uso face off against Kevin Owens.

The show started with WWE Universal Champion Cody Rhodes talking about his upcoming fight with Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble 2025. Rhodes said that Owens always chose the easiest option when things got tough. The American Nightmare informed everyone that he used to be Randy Orton’s student.

Rhodes also pointed out that he won against Roman Reigns and Gunther in individual matches. His recent title defences made him feel strong about his upcoming fight with Owens. Rhodes kissed his title and shook hands with Joe Tessitore before the section finished.

After the ad break, the announcers went over the lineup for Saturday Night’s Main Event. Kevin Owens asked Joe Tessitore why he skipped their conversation. Owens said Tessitore made him long for Michael Cole and then promised to show the WWE fans who the real king is at the Royal Rumble.

Owens then looked at actor Matthew McConaughey, who was sitting at the ringside. He told the Hollywood star that he would defeat Rhodes just like Ohio State defeated his team, the Texas Longhorns. Soon after, Jimmy Uso entered the arena and asked Owens to a fight.

Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens got into a fight as the show ended.

Kevin Owens won the main event by using his finishing move, the Pop-up Powerbomb, on Jimmy Uso. After the match, Owens moved the broadcasters’ table and pulled Jimmy outside. As soon as he threw the Samoan onto the table, Cody Rhodes’ music started playing, and he ran down the ramp. The two guys entered the ring and began fighting as SmackDown ended.
