Jigra Movie Story: Jigra Movie Review. After her brother is falsely accused of drug offences, a sister embarks on a bold quest to free him in this heartbreaking prison break drama. Will she be able to get back together with him before his death sentence is just three months away?

Review of Jigra: Strong screenplays and scripts are essential to the success of revenge and prison break dramas, which provide suspenseful action and dazzle audiences with their wit. With the introduction of Satya (Alia Bhatt), a strong and trustworthy young woman determined to defend her younger brother Ankur (Vedang Raina) at all costs, director Vasan Bala’s thriller Jigra gets off to a great start.

Satya becomes a formidable force after Ankur is falsely accused of drug offences on the harsh island of Hanshi Dao in South-east Asia. She sets out on a bold mission to free him, unfazed by the strict law enforcement that executes people found guilty of drug offences. After the legal system fails to provide justice, Satya teams up with retired gangster Bhatia (Manoj Pahwa) and former police officer Muthu (Rahul Ravindran) to come up with a complex plan to free four young men, including Ankur, from prison.

The idea had a lot of potential to show the journey of a sister who adopts the strict system of a foreign country and makes morally dubious choices. But what ought to have prepared the audience for an interesting and breathtaking ride quickly devolves into chaos. The narrative, which was written by Bala and Debashish Irengbam, becomes one-dimensional and emphasises stylised action over real content. The complexity is further increased by a parallel prison break plot. Satya’s strategy for dealing with the bullies starts to repeat itself.

There are some brilliant moments in the movie, which are attributed to action director Vikram Dahiya and cinematographer Swapnil S. Sonawane, who are excellent at producing smooth and expertly performed stunts and action scenes. The pyrotechnics and scenes like Satya sliding down a sloping rooftop are amazing. However, the proceedings are bogged down by protracted scenes, and the plot itself is largely ignored in favour of Satya’s antics.

As an action star and a character with a lot of emotion, Alia Bhatt gives a remarkable performance. The actress portrays anger, helplessness, and resilience convincingly while performing the death-defying stunts with skill. Vedang Raina performs admirably in his brotherly role. Special recognition should be given to Manoj Pahwa, Satya’s accomplice whose son is also incarcerated.

Jigra has brilliant moments, especially when it comes to Alia Bhatt’s outstanding performance and the action scenes, but its disorganised plot and emphasis on style over content lessen the film’s overall impact. A stronger premise and a more succinct storyline would have significantly improved this movie.
