The Roshans Story: This four-part documentary series tells the story of the Roshan family’s impact in Indian film. It starts with Roshan Lal Nagrath, a famous music composer, and continues with his sons Rajesh and Rakesh Roshan. The series ends with Hrithik Roshan, Roshan Lal Nagrath’s grandson and a superstar.

Review: The Roshans is a moving and interesting look at a family that has had a huge impact on Bollywood through their creativity, persistence, and new ideas. At the start of the show, Roshan Lal Nagrath’s inspiring trip from working as a contractor in Gujranwala (now in Pakistan) to becoming a famous music master in Lucknow is shown. His growth as an artist under Ustad Allauddin Khan, his dedication to music even though it was hard for him personally, and his choice to take the last name “Roshan” all lay the groundwork for an amazing family tradition.

There are stories and old videos that honour Roshan’s gifts to music, especially in the 1950s and 1960s. Roshan was married to Ira, a singer and a caring partner. His love of music went beyond Indian borders; he got ideas from American singers like Connie Francis and Skeeter Davis. The docuseries goes into detail about his creative process, including how he used hand motions to explain songs and beats, similar to the famous music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal. It also features famous compositions like Laga Chunari Mein Daag, which has been played many times over the years.

The story moves smoothly to the next generation and follows Roshan’s sons on their trip. Rajesh Roshan became a famous music director, and Rakesh Roshan went from being an actor to a brilliant director. Both of these stories show how resilient and creative people can be. The series goes into great detail about Rakesh’s choice to become a director after a string of failures, which led to huge hits like Karan Arjun, Koi… Mil Gaya, and Krrish. From his first movie, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, to becoming Bollywood’s “Greek God,” Hrithik Roshan’s rise to fame is shown in great detail, showing how he struggled with shyness, health problems, and an unwavering drive to do well.

The Roshans is unique because it combines touching stories with rare historical footage, such as family photos, famous Bollywood songs from over the years, and clips from the popular radio show “Sangeet Ke Sitaron Ki Mehfil.” The show doesn’t shy away from important moments, like Rakesh’s almost fatal shooting and Hrithik’s battles with injuries and insecurities, which makes it more real and emotional.

There are honest stories and heartfelt tributes from famous people in the business, like Asha Bhosle, Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Priyanka Chopra, and Ranbir Kapoor, who were interviewed. Some of the best parts are when Asha Bhosle talks about Roshan Lal’s musical ability, when Shah Rukh Khan says that Rajesh and Rakesh are like “Karan and Arjun,” and when Ranbir Kapoor calls Hrithik a “phenomenon.

Famous songs like “Saara Zamana” and “Julie” are also used to honour Roshan, as are honours from Javed Akhtar, Vishal Dadlani, and Sonu Nigam. Rajesh Roshan’s musical talent was noticed early on by the business. Hits like Kaala Patthar, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, and Koi Mil Gaya solidify his place in Bollywood’s musical history.

The series stands out because of its thorough study, high-quality images, and the work that Shashi Ranjan, Bharati K. Dubey, and Sameer Salunkhe put into collecting a lot of old information. These parts make the story more powerful and bring the Roshan family’s story to life.

The Roshans is a must-see for movie and music fans alike. It has honest storytelling, unique insights, and a beautiful tribute to a family that defined an age of Hindi film. It honours not only the history of a family but also the lasting power of art, love, and toughness.
