Cameron Diaz used to be a model and then became an actress. She became famous and praised for a number of great roles in the 1990s and beyond. Surprisingly, she hasn’t been seen in public in years. In 2014, she had her last movie role in a remake of the Broadway musical “Annie,” which wasn’t very good.

Cameron Diaz got off to a great start in her career. She got the lead female role in the Jim Carrey movie “The Mask” even though she had never been acting before. Soon after that movie, she got a lot of other parts, but it wasn’t until a few years later, in Julia Roberts’s movie “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” that she really became a star in movies.

The 15 Greatest Cameron Diaz Performances From Worst To Best.

15. THE GREEN HORNET (2011)

Director: Michel Gondry. Writers: Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg. Starring: Seth Rogen, Christoph Waltz, David Harbour.

The Green Hornet has been a superhero since the days of radio shows. There have been many versions of it, including a TV show in the 1960s. A version that focused on comedy as well as heroics finally made it to the big screen, but people didn’t really like it. In most movies, Cameron Diaz plays the love interest of the main character.

14. THE HOLIDAY (2006)

Director and writer: Nancy Meyers. Starring Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Jack Black.

Among her other movies are “Something’s Gotta Give” and “The Parent Trap.” “The Holiday” is her Christmas movie. Two women, one in Los Angeles and one in the UK, decide to trade places to live for the holidays in this movie. The change of scenery helps each person understand their own lives better.

13. A LIFE LESS ORDINARY (1997)

Director: Danny Boyle. Writer: John Hodge. Starring Ewan McGregor, Holly Hunter, Delroy Lindo.

This was Danny Boyle’s third movie and the follow up to his huge hit “Trainspotting.” Diaz played the lead role. This movie didn’t have the same magic, though, and it wasn’t very well received. Two guardian angels try to get Cameron Diaz to fall in love with her kidnapper while she is being held captive.

12. BAD TEACHER (2011)

Director: Jake Kasdan. Writers: Gene Stupnitsky, Lee Eisenberg. Starring Jason Segal, Justin Timberlake, John Michael Higgins, Cameron Diaz

This comedy is pretty easy to understand. Cameron Diaz is a bad teacher. She only stays at her job because she needs the money to pay for breast implants.

11. THE SWEETEST THING (2002)

Director: Roger Kumble. Writer: Nancy M. Pimental. Starring Thomas Jane, Christina Applegate, Jason Bateman, Cameron Diaz

For this movie, Cameron Diaz played a woman who has a hard time dating men and doesn’t always treat them well. When she meets a man she really likes, she has to change how she acts.

10. ANY GIVEN SUNDAY (1999)

Director: Oliver Stone. Writers: John Logan, Oliver Stone. Starring Al Pacino, Jamie Foxx, Dennis Quaid, Cameron Diaz

With this movie, Oscar winner Oliver Stone looked at the world of football and showed how politics affect the game both on and off the field. The character played by Cameron Diaz is the bossy daughter of the team’s owner. She has strong opinions on how the club should be run.

9. CHARLIE’S ANGELS (2000)

Director: McG. Writers: Ryan Rowe, Ed Solomon, John August. Starring Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, Bill Murray, Cameron Diaz

This movie is the first time that the popular 1970s TV show that made Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, and Jaclyn Smith famous has been brought back to life. Drew Barrymore helped make the movie, but she generously gave Cameron Diaz the most important of the three roles she played. The producers of the movie made a political statement by not letting the Angels use any kind of gun or weapons to solve crimes.

8. IN HER SHOES (2005)

Director: Curtis Hanson. Writer: Susannah Grant. Starring Toni Collette, Shirley MacLaine, Anson Mount, Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz plays the sister who likes to party more and is more flashy. Toni Collette plays the more quiet and serious one. When the grandmother they’ve never met shows up, it changes the way the two sisters fight with each other. Shirley MacLaine was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for her role as the grandmother.

7. THE MASK (1994)

Director: Chuck Russell. Writer: Mike Werb. Starring Jim Carrey, Peter Riegert, Amy Yasbeck, Cameron Diaz

When she was hired as the lead actress in this Jim Carey movie, Diaz had only worked as a model before. In the movie, Cameron Diaz plays a beautiful jazz singer and Carey plays a nice bank clerk who goes crazy when he puts on the title “mask.”

6. SHREK (2001)

Director: Andrew Adamson, Vicky Jenson. Writers: Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio, Joe Stillman, Roger S.H. Schulman. Starring Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, John Lithgow, Cameron Diaz

Diaz did the voice of one of Disney’s most well-known movies, “Shrek.” She plays Princess Fiona, a princess who is cursed to turn into an ogre every night. When she first tries to break the spell, she looks for a handsome prince, but instead falls in love with Shrek, the main character.

5. GANGS OF NEW YORK (2002)

Director: Martin Scorsese. Writers: Jay Cocks, Steven Zaillian, Kenneth Lonergan. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis, John C. Reilly, Cameron Diaz

Ten Oscar nominations were made for Martin Scorsese’s acclaimed drama about gang warfare in New York in the 1800s, but it didn’t win any. Diz was up for Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes for her part as a pickpocket who falls in love with two of the main characters.

4. VANILLA SKY (2001)

Director and writer: Cameron Crowe. Starring Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz, Kurt Russell, Cameron Diaz

Penelope Cruz played the same part she did in the Spanish version of Alejandro Amenábar’s film “Abre Los Ojos,” which was an interesting choice. Cameron Diaz has a small but well-reviewed part as a woman who goes to great lengths to be with the main character because she loves him. She was nominated for a Golden Globe and a SAG award for the movie, but not for an Oscar.

3. MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING (1997)

Director: P.J. Hogan. Writer: Ronald Bass. Starring Julia Roberts, Dermot Mulroney, Rupert Everett, Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz became a star after playing a supporting role in this romantic comedy with Julia Roberts. To win over audiences while Roberts was at the top of her game as America’s sweetheart, Diaz had to do something very difficult. Roberts plays a woman whose college friend is about to marry Cameron Diaz. However, Roberts wants to marry the guy herself, so she goes to stop the wedding.

2. THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY (1998)

Directors: Bobby Farrelly, Peter Farrelly. Writers: Ed Decter, John J. Strauss, Peter Farrelly, Bobby Farrelly. Starring Ben Stiller, Matt Dillon, Lee Evans, Cameron Diaz

In this crazy comedy, Diaz is the object of the desires of several anxious men. It’s easy to see what the title of this movie means because Diaz shines in it. Mary does have something about her. She shocked everyone in the awards race when she won the Best Actress award from the New York Film Critics Circle. People didn’t think the comedy was good enough for an award. Cameron Diaz was also nominated for a Golden Globe in the Comedy category.

1. BEING JOHN MALKOVICH (1999)

Director: Spike Jonze. Writer: Charlie Kaufman. Starring John Cusack, Catherine Keener, John Malkovich, Cameron Diaz

The plot of this very creative movie is about a file clerk who finds a way to get into the mind of actor John Malkovich (playing himself). Diaz plays the unhappy wife of the file clerk. She becomes interested in the portal and has an affair with a woman while she is inside Malkovich’s mind. Diaz was nominated again for a Golden Globe and a SAG award, but she didn’t win either.
